My Name! My Beautiful Name!
A terrible thing has happened. Something so cataclysmic, lives will be altered forever. I don't know if I can go on...

The GameSpot folk have been generous enough to offer its forum moderators a free account to their new new GameCenter site. During the process of setting up my complimentary account, my award-winning name was shortened to the 15-character limit that GS and/or CNET currently has in place. The old AnonymousBroccoli was a holdover from the Lithium days, and for whatever reason, didn't need to be changed to fit the new system. Unfortunately, I don't have a computer to run games that'll take advantage of the site, and was just signing up as a potential future convenience. If I was told I'd have to give up my name to get in, I probably would've declined.
Frantic about this unexpected change, I reached out to GS tech monkey and fanboy stomper extraordinaire, Adam Buchen. He was less than sympathetic to begin with...
Broccoli: Umm. I think my GameCenter account, and the consequential name-shortening broke something.
Adam: OWNED
Broccoli:

Occasionally worried...
Broccoli: My name is going to bring down the whole system.
Adam: Possibly, yes
But very helpful (and a little grossed out) in the end.
Adam: Okay, it's fixed maybe
Adam: If something blows up, let us know
Broccoli: Should I log out of everything?
Adam: Sure, and clear your cookies for good measure
Adam: And clean behind your ears
Broccoli: But they give off the pleasant smell of parmesan cheese.
So I've now taken the form of DeviousBroccoli, as I usually do when there's a fascist, free-speech-killing user name character limit. I handled the whole situation remarkably well, of course.
The change has swept the CNET family of sites, except my GameFAQs boards account, which for some reason remains intact.
I'm lucky enough to have someone to share in my pain. Mr. Jordan Elek lost the space in his name.

Anyhoo. Life goes on. Feel free to make fun of me for making a big deal out of this.
