Christmas '05

Without any overly long intro, here's the Christmas loot:

  • Lost - Season 1 DVD

  • Scrubs - Season 2 DVD

  • Gilmore Girls - Season 2 DVD

  • Jerry Seinfeld - I'm Telling You For The Last Time DVD

  • 280-Disc Binder (to go with the 256-disc binder I already have)

  • Green Day - Bullet in a Bible

  • Scott Stapp - The Great Divide

  • Projet Orange - Megaphobe

  • The Lost Chronicles Book

  • 6 T-Shirts

  • $100 for clothes (I need some jeans)

  • A ticket for a draw for a Harley-Davidson

... and an Xbox.

It seems to work reasonably well so far. The clock keeps resetting, so I may see if there's a battery in there to fiddle with or replace. And the previous owners seem to have been fond of a certain "wacky tobaccy", judging from the smell that comes out the back while the fan is running.

Doesn't have Xbox Live as far as I can tell, and I'm not likely to be able to afford it any time soon.

I added like 40 games to my wish list that I'd like to try, so I'll have to see about finding them (and the money to find them). I'd still like to try SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006 at some point.

I got Robyn Civilization III for the PC--probably her first video game gift since we all got Mario Paint for Easter several years ago. It's quite deep, and I still haven't figured out exactly what I'm doing yet. Definitely not enough to teach her how to play.

She also got a bunch of gift cards, cloaked as gag gifts. Gift card camo included a can of compressed air, a box of granola bars with only a minor surgical scar, and a clothes box full of water bottles. The Coke-stained envelopes didn't make the cut.

Josh got the third Looney Tunes DVD set, and three DVDs of the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. We watched the first few episodes, and it still seemed pretty familiar. I surpisingly remembered most of the lyrics to the theme song, most notably that "Michaelangelo is a party dude!"

It was interesting to head over to IMDB to see where else I've heard all the voices. Cam Clarke (Leonardo & Rocksteady) was also Liquid Snake, and a handful of other recent video game characters. Rob Paulsen (Raphael) was also PJ on Goof Troop, and Yakko and Pinky on Animaniacs. Townsend Coleman (Michaelangelo) was The Tick (animated). And Shredder is an evil Uncle Phil (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), James Avery.

Josh also got a new TV for his room, both bigger, and with inputs for a DVD player. And he got some cash, which is supposed to go towards a new computer, but will probably be in a bartender's hand before the end of the night.

Dad got a juicer, among other things. Broccoli juice will no doubt be had in due time.

Robyn, Josh and I spent Christmas Eve with Mom. Robyn and Josh, having worked several hours that day on little sleep, took some of that precious time with Mom to nap on her floor and/or couch.

We all spent Christmas here at home for breakfast, gifts, TriBond and dinner. Josh and I wove an interesting tale of good vs. evil in picture form, which I may post later.

Boxing Day, Josh, Robyn, Mom and I headed to see Mom's side of the family.

Today's Josh's birthday. He has a few people over now, and they'll probably head downtown once they're done trying to get Josh's 20 Questions cordless yo-yo to guess that they're thinking of a penis. We all played a little poker, and I managed to be the first eliminated. Stupid trips Kings.

It's over!
